Envelopes posted August 29, 2016

Let’s talk envelopes…or more specifically, envelope enclosures.
Let’s say you have an A7 envelope, which is 7 1/4″ wide x 5 1/4″ tall. Most people would create the piece going inside as a 5×7.
This works very well if you are mailing out 100 invitations.
However, if you are sending out thousands of pieces, it is much more efficient to put this on a machine for inserting. For machine inserting, the finished size cannot be 5×7, it has to be 5×6 13/16″ (6 7/8″ for an i7 as the flap is narrower).
Another thing to consider is the thickness of the paper and how many folds are involved. If you have a tri-fold piece that is on a really heavy card stock, you may even need to go as small as 5×6 3/4 or even smaller.
When in doubt, give us a call and one of our sales people or someone in our prepress department will be happy to assist with your next project.
